Just need 28 a
Plant consisting of two leaves (9)
I have f - i - h - e - s
There appear to be only 2 possibilities neither of which makes sense to me ...unless I`ve gone wrong!

I've been pondering this for hours (not for myself) it has stumped a lot of people.

Will report back if anything occurs.

Thanks Mamya

I`ve found a biblical reference to a `faithless` plant but not sure where two leaves come in!

Two leaves could refer to the fig leaves Adam & Eve wore in the Garden of Eden & they turned out to be 'faithless' people. A bit tenuous even for this setter though!

You may already have seen the response people have had today, but just in case.

two changes

27a. Plant consisting of two leaves. (4) Di LL
28a. This false deviant is disbelieving.(9) Faithless

What a kerfuffle.

In my copy...
27a. Fool a trainee has a point about D?L?
which I take to be DOLT

Looks like the setter had an alternative clue ie Plant consisting of two leaves which would be DILL as you say Mamya but put this for 28a.

Thanks Skeleton setter for wasting hours of out time.
