The noisy height of indignation (5)

23a Hot sides replaced having gone below (3-6)
???,K?S?E?
(The E may not be right - I can't quite see that the clue actually gives the answer I've got)

Thanks both - kicking myself for the indignation one; relieved that the sun is doing the kissing in the other!

Could you resolve my other doubt, please (the E)?
17d Slice off hanging spikes, if below 100 (7)
?C?C?E?

There's an obvious answer, but the word order in the clue seems wrong, unless it's now OK to put the definition in the middle.

I'm a bit late finishing this week as the Christmas celebrating started early this year! I found a few of the clues a bit tricky (agree about 17d). I've got an answer for 8 across but it doesn't fit very well with the clue: "Feel bad when given gentle embrace by No 11? (4-5)" Have I got any letters wrong? ?A?L-?N?E? or could someone confirm the definition please? Thanks

Definition is No.11 (specifically in cricket). Your letters are correct.
