Andyc, there are six letters in 21D. I've got the answer, but thought I shouldn't just give them all!
Hint- the mail isn't letters.

Bunty, they're all in straight lines - two vertical, two horizontal.

Sunray, I was wrong to say 'the other three' earlier, there are only two. I was writing very hurriedly and the 'five thematic...' bit in the preamble leapt out at me. Sorry if I confused you.
