Hi guys
Like Joanie earlier, I was fortunate to be one of the lucky runners up- first time in many a long time! and it was really good fortune that I put in correct answer to 1d last week of Shell.
This week's puzzle finished, but didn't really fully parse answers to 20ac ( orchid);26d ( ugly);27d (read). Any thoughts anyone? Sorry, haven't put in clues

Chambers gives a def of ugly as 'a shade attached to a ladie's hat'
