Me again! My trouble is I have 7 blank squares on the right hand side of the row beginning with 22 across, I've just imbibed and it hasn't helped!
On the left hand side i have 4 letters + 3 'symbols' and if I swap them to the right I get gobbledegook with 11 down and 26 down.
Ohhhhhhhhhhhh!

On the left I have five letters and two symbols. I moved them to the right and these formed perfectly fine words... The 'symbols' are also letters - so it works on the left as it did on the right (Slap- is really Slapdash, the answer to its clue, on the other side you end up with -een, dasheen, a real word.)

...I meant to say, your present entries for 13 and 24 D probably looked like gobbledegook too at first!

...and I also forgot to remind you to re-read the last line of the preamble ' 'represent real words or phrases.'

Think I've got it finally! So the seven on the left and seven on the right are the same! ??
