This week I am totally lost. I believe that I have seven of the nine unknowns and all the clued answers inserted. Should I now be looking for a five letter word that has at least nine anagrams to provide synonyms of the 9 unclued answers (of which "fence" is one) ? "Board" hovers in my mind but I suspect that there is still a penny to drop. Any help should ease my frustration.

Paperbarks is the unclued one that helped the penny drop for me.

The obvious 5 letter synonym provide the letters that can be anagrammed to give synonyms for all of the other unclued answers.

1a is an ESTER....43a are TREES.....

Thank you solvers - I could not see the wood for the trees. What an idiot I feel. But a very grateful idiot for the prompt prompts.
