I've finished apart from 31ac. I have A-AS. Given the clue there is an obvious letter to put in but it produces a word which is a plural of stoves or Turkish commanders and none of the other possible solutions makes much sense. Am I parsing it all wrong?

Pretty sure it's Anas, (strictly speaking Ana's) - Ana + anecdotes, literary gossip.

By the way, can anyone tell me how SOPRANOS parses (if it's right).

I can see 'such' might be SO but not the rest.

eg taken out of "opera songs" and anagram - sopranos?
