All done I think but can't work out the thinking behind 1ac. Any thoughts?

A couple of weeks ago, I think, there were 2 clues that referenced the answer to 5 when it ought to have been 3 or something. The clue (1A) would make sense if it made reference to 15A instead of 8A, so may be a similar mistake.

(Or 9A, for that matter)

Re Herald, did anyone notice last week they printed the solution to Thusday's crossword on Wednesday.

Ah, it looks like there are 15th century links to eight different clues.

Across 9, 15, 23, 25

Down 6, 13, 14, 20.

Perhaps it wasn't a mistake then, and that's where the "8" came from.

Don't know how you completed that by 10am Tim it's taken me all morning! Off to do something useful!!
