Last 3. Some of these include clashing letters.

37d American bison (nobs?), game of old with our avoiding herd returning. (4)
Have M/S M I _ Could be SMIT, but if so, can't parse it.
2d Cannot find this Roman anywhere. It's an anagram of resinata.
Have RA_TIA _/R _.

50a) Husband's holding address for stranger round basket.
Implies MARISAN, with man round a sir reversed giving basket. But can't find this basket.
Have M _ RIA _

Could anyone help please?

2 Raetians (I'd need to look it up again to give more information).
37 It's a thematic answer, longer than the space.
50. The 'i' is wrong. The 'address' is a three letter modern term, inside Man.

You always do, you are so kind. Forgive me asking, but it's the first time I've done this sort of puzzle. There seem to be various thematic names in the grid, but not immediately apparent - i.e. in a sort of wordsearch pattern. But sometimes you have to skip a letter to get to another you need. Is this what I should expect?

Jazzlover, I'm not really sure about the wordsearch bit, and the 'skipping a letter'. The names are formed from using one or more letters from an Across answer and adding one or more letters from a Down answer - these letters all come at the point where there are clashes. The name I got first came from the clash at 16 A and 9 D, as I knew both my answers were correct.

Thanks so much once again. It's a new style for me. I really enjoyed relaising the theme once I'd got the letters out of the first few clues.

We've had similar puzzles in Inquisitor before, but not many. I found this week's one very clever.
