Good Morning Chris

I have been listening to part of the John Adams piece (New Day)
It is not unpleasant to my ear. I found it rather magical in places and I may put more time aside to listen to more.
My days of driving on the BS are well over now, as the family have moved to a new place, in Ventura County, some 300 miles down the coast.
Have a good day

Hi jazzy
Glad you liked it! It's strange, but rather wonderful, I think. (I can understand why my daughter can't stand it, though!)

After lunch, I asked a friend to listen and give me his thoughts....
I felt some parts had Indian and even Japanese influence, as well as whale sounds.......He said cats !

PS I tried to listen to part 2 (Sri Moonshine) but had to switch off the mass of dissonance :(

That wasn't on the BBC disc - the coupling was a Philip Glass symphony, which, unlike his quartets, didn't send me to sleep!

Looking at the disc more carefully, I see that I do have the two movements.
