I'm with you Dryden. The first image on the artist's dedicated website (.org) shows the thick lines going from edge to edge of the canvas (grid in our case) and enclosing the coloured squares. To me that would seem to be the most obvious answer.

Several days behind everyone else as usual. I thought this was very, very good. 9 answers by midnight on (second) Friday. Flash of inspiration while cleaning my teeth last night, all finished an hour and a half later.

Now read the thread, I was opting for full length lines. Only minor quibble is use of 'pop performer', which the artists referred to clearly aren't. But overall, excellent.

On the off chance that anyone is still looking at this....

I cannot parse the clue starting Macbeth perhaps.... I have four of the five letters in the answer but cannot see which of the two possible words is correct.

The Macbeth clue answer is 7 letters

blur-r + pace backwards.

The 5 letter clue answer ending in rate is the clue starting with livid,
