Another one I just can't work out:

"Make another estimate about female donkey? [8]" REASSESS

I get that donkey = ASS, and that the definition is "make another estimate", but I can't see how the "female" fits in.

Is an Assess a female donkey, in the same way that a Giantess is a female giant and an Ogress is a female ogre? About = Re, so Re Assess.

Aha, thank you Malone. It seems that "female" can mean that -ess" should be added.
