Help with parsing two clues please:

9A Cheeky boy keeps burning cheesecake (3-2). Answer appears to be Pin-up (cheesecake). I assume cheeky boy is pup, but if so how can 'in' be burning?!

14D System ECHR delivered cryptically in thirty-one days (9). Answer seems to be Machinery, ie May round anagram of ECHR, but this leaves 'in'. Cannot see where this comes from, because the 'in' in the clue has already been used to put the anagram inside May. Can anyone explain please?

Chambers Dictionary gives "alight" as a meaning of "in".

Thanks all.

OK, so dictionaries say 'in' can mean 'burning' or 'alight', but I can't think of a context/model sentence, in which the two are interchangeable! Can you give me one?

On 14D, I still don't see how 'in' gets into the middle of anagram ofn ECHR? Can anyone explain?

It might be a dialect thing, but we say "the fire is in" when we mean it's alight.

We used to say "in" for a lit cigarette.
