The only clue I can't fully parse is 33a: Development of op? Where eager readers want to be (8). My answer contains OP and EAGER but there's a V I can't account for, and "where" seems superfluous unless V equals it. I doubt that my answer is wrong.

Clutching at straws because I can't verify it - but could OP be seen as the abbreviation for Over page. So to 'develop' it is to extend it?

Hence the rest of the clue is the definition?

You're perhaps right, manta. A sort of double definition? Seems odd that "eager" provides fodder though. Chance? Or misdirection? Thanks.

I think Mamya is close to the answer, but OP in itself isn't an abbreviation for overpage. Separately the elements of OP are O, (an abbreviation for over(s) in cricket), and p, (an abbreviation for page). Hence O and p developed. If I'm right, a bit far fetched even for Azed I think.

Thanks, spiegler. I suppose that works, but I still can't help but think that there's a more satisfying parse. As you say, a bit far-fetched. I do like the idea of its being where the eager reader wants to be though.

Since Chambers gives one meaning of 'develop' as 'to express in expanded form', o being expanded to 'over' and p to 'page' seems fine to me.
