Hi again autumnwitch
Just out of interest, my answer to one of the clues was
skirt around (avoid)

After I had finished, I checked one website where they "claim" to know the answers.... they showed answer as

shift around !

Wrong garment in my opinion ;)

Hi Jazz Girl, Just looked back at my answers - like you I gave skirt. Would not have thought of shift (shades of the sixties!).

You are brillian at these crosswords - I always know I can rely on you when I'm stuck. I think I might get to like the quick cryptic as I get better at it.

I don't have access to the Time Quick, but I often like to do the Guardian online which is similar.

(I remember wearing a shift....Oh dear !)

To clarify (sorry jazzy) it's this week's Quiptic, not "today's". One is published online every Monday. You can of course print it if you prefer working on paper.

Today's main cryptic (the one you've linked to) was unusually hard to get in to, I thought - not a good one for a beginner!

Monday usually brings a puzzle by Rufus, who is generally easier, though some of his "cryptic definitions" can be a bit "off-the-wall".

I haven't time to do the main cryptic today so did not know the level. The Everyman crossword on Sundays is generally easy. I am out and about the rest of today. Enjoy your day both
