Hello,

As usual I don't understand how a couple of solutions work and would be grateful for assistance.

4D "Dear departed driver, with poles becomes almost adult [4,5]" LATE TEENS

Late = departed
Tee = driver
NS = poles

Where does "Dear" come in?

13D "Surge, shift or shun [6]" ONRUSH

I don't understand the significance of shift or shun in this one.

Dear departed is the phrase a Vicar might use to describe someone who has passed away- so the 2 words are synonymous with late.

Shift is an anagram indicator for- orshun.

Surge is the definition
