14 Window Dressing - another anagram!

14a; Did you miss an "s" off the end of wedding, John?
"Window dressing" is correct, but is an anagram of "now sir weddingS" - possibly??

16a: anagram of "fans boo lots ale"
2d: anagram of "consoling editor"

8d; Could it be "safe pair of hands"?
The first definition seems straightforward - is the rest a cricket reference by any chance?
