Thanks v much for that mamya-my last clue-I was obviously tired!

i have rather remarkably managed to finish, albeit with a little help from the Forum, todays offering from private Eye. however I cannot understand the "pear shaped" part of 16 down. I'm assuming the answer is "all,night", but cant fathom what the pear shaped element of the clue is, or am i over thinking it!

I think "pear-shaped" is an anagram indicator ...night ..anagram of thing ??

I think 'goes pear-shaped' is just the anagram indicator - 'going pear-shaped' means going awry, out of kilter, so 'thing' get scrambled to become 'night'. There's no other anagram indicator in the clue.
