I have completed the grid and can see the creator. But I dont know what is meant by alternative meanings for the 7 words. the words which seem obvious to highlight have not got the right meanings.

i must be missing something

Does it say "highlight" something? Sorry if I am being thick but I am only just starting this one... so far lots of normal clues done , but none of the 12 specials....perhaps I am missing something too?

Jigjag, there is already a thread on this under the heading Enigmatic Variations 1264 which has some useful hints.

Sorry jigjag ......yes look back at the thread ....you don't actually need 7 alternatives for the usuals but just 7 of the original 40 that W D considered....look at the google thread on it which lists all 40

sudokulover and orson - thanks I get it now - but it means the pre-amble was wrong as these are not alternative meanings but alternatives.
