Can anybody make sense of this puzzle? We seem to have been given either the wrong grid for the clues, or the wrong clues for the grid which has been provided...possibly both. It's the same in both versions - online and print. Or have I missed something?

Just renumber the grid.
First row becomes 1 2,3,4,5 and 1,2,3,4,5
Next row becomes 6 and 6
Next row is 7 and 7

Last row will be 18 and 18

4d. It's a word related to moors, hidden in the clue

You all but have it. But you've misread the clue: not "motor" but "moor". Think of erica.....

The N is incorrect. It's ananagram of 'boom' inside a Scots word for a pool in a bog, reversed.
