kirky - 27a, bill = police and there is an anagram involved.
48a - think of something heavy, which can also mean guide.

I just need to solve 21d, 26a and 43a (till?)

I think 41d should read "in front of church" rather than just in church.

It occurs to me that anyone like me who gets EV by subscribing to Telegraph puzzles won't know how to submit the puzzle and what the prize is as they have deleted that information. Not that it bothers me as I won't submit it because I have won the pen and notebook twice already.

Orson, 26 A is thematic.
I'm not totally sure how all of 21 D works, but my answer seems fine. A five-letter word/place that's part of Iberia - 'not accepted' means remove the 'a'.

I haven't got 43 A but at the moment my answer end in an 'i'.

I'm still battling with 29 D...

For those without the paper, this crossword contains a huge amount of thematic stuff and answers may not be straightforward, may not be words.

Thanks to malone and orson re 27a ... I thought "they transport" was the defn so kept trying the wrong anagram instead of the obvious one!
Ah ... need to work out the misprint now!

You're welcome, Kirky. Have you got any hints for 29 Down?
