Just got it. Did not know that a gambling place is also a dance hall.

Just as an aside. According to wikipedia the extra letter at 26d should be an 'a'. However in IMDb it is an 'e', so that's all right then!

Certain I have the answer for 43ac and I have the extra letter but can some kind soul drop me a hint about the parsing of the clue please?

Think it runs ERNE (raptor) followed by S (at first sees) + W (the superfluous letter) and T (the two third letters of ''new kites").
