I loved his piano playing. Too many great pianists became average conductors, in my opinion (viz. Askenazy).

We saw him carrying Jaqueline Du pres's cello case out of the Free Trade Hall once, after a concert .

I remember, years ago, when the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra were based at the Winter Gardens, Bournemouth, seeing Daniel performing one of Mozart's Piano Concerto. That was really special .
