Help parsing these, please:-

19 Across - "Red growth behind a flower" - RHONE
5 Down - "Country singer's second shot" - IRAN
21 Down - "Equipment working right, one hears" - GEAR

There's so many ways at looking at a lot of these clues!

Many thanks, AB and Mamya! My golly, that RHONE one
was contrived! I broke away from the Skeleton 10 years
ago and was doing its counterpart in the MOS, but this became too easy and I recently went back to the Skeleton.
I'm a glutton for punishment!

21D Equipment working right, one hears
21D [Equipment = /uGEAR/u] (workin/uG/u right#/ir-hand letter/i > /uG/u] , (one hears = /uEAR/u] > /uG+EAR/u

Sorry, my attempt at underlining and Italics using tags didn't work!
The solution is:
21D [Equipment = GEAR] (working right,#right-hand letter# > G) (one hears = EAR) > G+EAR
