Anyone care to have a bash at parsing this one, it has me stumped?

Gap in gold on stomach? (9)

'Shortfall' is the verified solution.

Yes, verified in the interactive version, and the clue is the same in that and the printable one.

I think the connection must be Autumn

Gold (Au) on stomach (tum) would represent the shortened word for the season, i.e. "fall" in the USA, hence "shortfall" and "gap".

Now I'm going to take the rest of the day off!

Allah

A (first class) with hall (passage) returned

"icon" is a bit misleading, isn't it?
