I thought maybe the second word might be Young?
And also 11across Place below directions to doctor which I thought might be entomb?

11 Entomb works fine, place below. E +N are the directions. To, from the clue+MB, doctor.

12A Yes second word is Young first word is a drink of 3 letters followed by three words which mean a compound where you would keep a pig.

11 a you are right. two directions east and north, followed by "to" from the clue then two letters which refer to a doctor.

Help with 16A please: Fabric pulled round American ship ?U?S?R?. I take it the American ship means USS, but I still can't see it.
