As always I have got so far with this then have ground to an undignified halt...rather like the van in question, I have the theme but 19 across - Realign starter's marks as above after imposition ( 6 ) is eluding me. None of the three words which I can find which fit h?m?us ( first blank is probably u ) makes sense in the context of the clue. As for the phrase to be written under the grid that is completely arcane. Programme title? Wording from the side of the van in question? Something else entirely? I am trying to pair the extra words up but to no avail. Clear pointers in the right direction would be much appreciated.

19 Hummus, starter (pate). Hum is Imposition + M,marks. +Us,above(it's in Chambers,a Latin phrase).

It's difficult to give just a hint to the phrase. It's much simpler than it first appears!

Thank you for that Malone. I shall have another go at what to write under the grid later. I assume that whatever it is the colour to be used for highlighting is that of the van.

Alwayspuzzled, if you follow the preamble instructions for 10 A and 19 A (one pair) and 26 A and 33 A (another pair), you'll see what's to be done. It's not very impressive really!

Thank you for that Malone. A work deadline and a funeral over the last two days have meant that I have been unable to look at this properly. I suspect that I am over-thinking things because I really cannot see what needs to be changed or packaged together. I shall return to it later.

The answers to the clues Malone mentions if taken as pairs form an anagram of the answer

7-5

Both begin with R

The title of the puzzle should help.

Thank you Djwhufc and Malone. How stupid can I be?! If you both reply "Very stupid!" I will not argue!

You're not 'very stupid' - just the victim of a cleverly-worded preamble that lead us to expect a more complicated solution!
