I have ?E?A? It looks like beast but apart from AS for arsenic

Thanks Jazzgirl for explaining the "Yankee bet". Couldn't see the connection.

Not too difficult this week, although antra and orison are new words to me. The yankee bet has been used in the RT crossword before, not that I remembered it.

Now I just need a hint for 15d (Artist - one in the crows-nest) to finish. The name of an artist, possibly ending in seer?
