12 & 13 d. Ornamental growth from an emmental factory? (5, 6, 5)

SWISS CHEESE PLAIT or PLANT?

Compiler is throwing red herrings methinks !!

Last week I had MOUNTAINS MEN as it seemed to make sense.
NO says he/she it's MOUNTAINY MEN. WHY ????

Swiss cheese pant = ornamental growth (def)
Emmental - Swiss cheese
plant - factory

What was the clue for last week's answer of "mountainy amen"?

Good morning,

Thanks to both rossim for the botanical link and elle for confirming why plant over plait. We have a local baker who produces delicious plaited loaves of bread stuffed with cheese when in the mood. Obviously confusing to this semi senile pensioners trying to solve the puzzle.

And last week elle

37 a. Presumably these chaps are at home with looking down on the rest of us! (9, 3) M??N?A?N? M?N

There were only two options MOUNTAINS or MOUNTAINY MEN. I went for MOUNTAINS because of the movie - 'Mountains Men'.

Doing crossword puzzles is a way to improve my English. Hopefully I'll stop thinking in Afrikaans when speaking English. So I am always grateful to fellow crossword buffs prepared to take time to keep me on the straight and narrow!

Have a great day from the not so 'sunny south east'.

Hi, Basil!
Chelle beat me to it - I just came across that definition of "mountainy men" only to find she had already posted it.
Does it help?
I still don't really understand the answer?

Chelle many thanks for that.
