I'm maybe misremembering, but 4 D might have been Overridden.

PS. Were there misprints in the clues? (I'm wondering if Teary becomes Weary).

At first I thought it an anagram, but no?

Rusty, you were right to wonder about Behemoth - it's wrong! The answer is Bergamot, anagram, and part of the theme.

For my query... the preamble does mention misprints.

I thought of behemoth (anagram mob, the) but, couldn't parse the 'he' part.
Malone, I like your answer for 4D - overridden. However, that clashes with the behemoth entry.
