Sorry, Mamya!
I like it!
I was continuing from my earlier post- I'd missed your interjection because I was multi-tasking!

It's ok - I was quite good at helping my Daughters with their homework if needed - that of my Grandchildren seems far harder to me.

Coffee pot is the right number of letters but is two words and not necessarily electric!

Component seems very good if the letters we were given are correct. Well done mamya.

My grandfather born 1871 was an electrical engineer, so there!! (wink). Didn't rub off, though.

Need to be careful, helping children with their homework. My dad never forgot (or forgave)! his (my) maths homework mark of "A- a good try" . He was also an electrical engineer.

However, when my elder son was set the homework of writing haiku, I got a good mark for my effort - in Japanese! The only words I knew in that language were those used in judo, which (at their request) I had tested my children on (instructions, names of throws and scores being given in Japanese).

It's easy to get too involved I grant you and I do think this sounds a bit much for 8 years but presumably a topic they are studying with associated words, or I hope so.

Thank you all!

I think we have it with component.

We got to the second letter being an o with
7 down - produces electricity = generator.

And the last letter being a t with 1 down - something that lets electricity through it = conductor.

So 3 across has the second letter of O in generator and the last letter of it ending with the T of conductor.

Please don't be alarmed my 8 year old did do the rest of the crossword by herself. She'll enjoy giving the teacher Feedback on how difficult it was getting the last one! It is a subject topic and she's been consumed with learning about electricity over the past few weeks so this homework is just a fun way of trying to get her to remember the words that relate to the topic.

Thanks again Samantha & a very happy 8 year old!

I doubt she'll ever forget the words, either.
I think it's an imaginative way to encourage thinking and, who knows, she might join the Forum one day because she likes crosswords!
