1a (4,2,7) Pensive runner, Bolt, but heading for tape. (I have ???p,in,thought) Looks like deep in thought which would mean
2d (7) Cut from a volume with fancy green colour is e???a?e.
(Nor can I parse 'deep in thought' except perhaps 'though' = but and 't' = leading letter of tape). Help !

(River) DEE is the "runner", PIN is the "bolt", the rest as you say.

1a: runner = DEE - the river
bolt = PIN
but = THOUGH
heading for Tape = T

I think the other is ENGRAVE (= cut). It's A V(olume) in "fancy" (anagram) GREEN, but I don't see how the "colour" fits in.
