That was a real slog, and I'm still unsure of the wordplay in a few - help much appreciated...

16a Tip for artist in crazy description of furnishings? (7) - CHINTZY (Description of furnishings)

12d Save fancy epithet for one's other half? (11) - HUSBANDLIKE

If the definition is a 'fancy epitaph' = HUSBAND LIKE, why is there a clue for HUSBAND (Save), but not for LIKE? - or, more likely, have I misread it?

40d A bitter appropriate for knocking back after hot chillies (9) - HABANEROS (Chillies)

Other than H(ot), I'm lost.
