17d Flag of Fair Isle (4) Am assuming answer is Iris - hidden in the clue but if so, it is putting me wrong for 23 a which I am assuming is antibiotic (clue To inhibit bacteria Bertha and I worked with this - 10 letters)

Help - driving me nuts! Thank you in advance

I've seen 23 A answered elsewhere as Antibiotic - you take 'bertha' and 'i' out of 'To inhabit bacteria', and anagram it.

Yes thought so, so what does that make 20d (put wrong number to clue in my first post - doh!) The clue is Flag of Fair Isle which I have taken to be Iris - but with antibiotic at 23 across it makes 20 down ??O? so iris doesn't fit but it is hidden in the clue!

'Iris' definitely seems the right answer for the other clue.

PS - I have just spotted a typo in my answer, 'inhabit' should've been 'inhibit'.
