I'm sure it's right, rusty, but does it work, though? STAG is presumably "male", but the A is in the wrong place, and, although "prone to" is equivalent to "inclined to", I don't think "prone" is equivalent to "inclined" by itself - it just means lying face down.

I think it works all right, Chris? I was just going to offer it up myself, when I saw that Rusty had beaten me to it!

A pron stag e

Anne Bradford has "prone" meaning "inclined"

I am happy with the "a" where it is, Chris.
That works fine for me.
The rest, as you say, is maybe not quite right.
Setter being slightly careless, I think.

The 'A' is correct here.
'A' is the first part of the wordplay and then 'male running through inclined' is the second (read separately) part of the wordplay.

A + (pron [STAG] e)

Elle, Anne has incline(d) meaning prone.
I would say the (d) is not quite right.
The setter is using a bit of poetic license for me.
Still, better than some of the horrible homophones that have turned up lately!

OK, you've convinced me that the A is in the right place, but (pace Anne Bradford), prone by itself is not "inclined". As I said, "prone to" is all right, but that isn't what we have here :)

That'll do for me, Les!
