I found this week's puzzle fairly straightforward, but am stuck on 16 A "Standard work is, eg, in right mess". *I*S / *A *. Further hints please, a Latin phrase ?

Hi devonian
No, it's English. I tried an anagram, but it didn't work - so a different sort of standard (golfing perhaps?) is needed.

Here's a novelty. Me tackling the puzzle the day after receiving it! I still can't see 16ac. I've seen & uunderstood your golf hint Chrise but the anagram??? I'm also presuming that the "s" that Devonian mentions is from the teetotal sort of self denial in 13d. I did think of another possible there as in self humbling. Though in neither could I see debt.
A hint on two others would be appreciated. 15ac Asian region ready, say, to get space station (7) I have ?A?H?I? but can I see it... 24ac Poet on bank with whiskers. (9) All I have there is, ?I ?E?????. Thanks in anticipation. Hello it's stopped raining. The potatoes are calling from the garden.

16 - the defn is right mess - anag of egis inside of a golfing term
15 the defn is an Asian region - the last three letters being the name of a Russian space station
24 defn is whiskers - last four letters being the name of a famous Scottish poet

Doh! Thanks Chris. They're so obvious when etc. Enough badges round here with "I heart that place" and as for 24ac I'm growing mine back after having them shaved off for the part of the German general in 'Allo 'Allo!
