Hi, Can anyone help with the parsing of this clue please?

10a There's nearly twenty-five quid in school's gold fund (7)
Think its 'sponsor' (short pon(y) = 25 quid and or = gold
but what of the two S's? and where does the 'schools' bit come from? I'm in a bit of a muddle !

Yea but, in that case, what do I do with the remaining 'chool'?
Or am I being totally stupid?
sorry Trevor !

Not stupid at all, Pigale.
Probably just a poor clue.
