Apparently "Erica's limited energy" (4) is HEAT, because 'Erica' is HEATH. Why?

Also, "A few picked up the lot" (3) is presumably SUM, because 'picked up' means 'sounds like'?

To pick up is to hear a sound usually amongst many others.


Above the noise of the traffic I picked up the blackbird's song.
