Anyone doing this? I've solved 24 clues, all except one are 4 letters and now I'm stuck. I have some long gaps in the alphabetical sequence so would appreciate a few hints, for example
Tender money in Hard Rock that backfires - starts with a or b
Roughly 60% of slaughter is a person from the past - starts b,c or d
Musical maiden forsakes flowerless plant - between and i
Silence from smallest computer - between l and n
Pollute lead-free contrivance for stirring molten metal - between p and s
I'm finding these really difficult so any help gratefully received!

Tender....Starts with a and has an m for money in it
Roughly....Starts with c
Musical......Starts with h (think sixties)
Silence......Starts with m (silence as in keeping m_ _ )
Pollute......Starts with r (Not a 4-letter answer)

Yes, suspect most of the (4)'s combine to make real word (8)'s.

The 4x(5)'s + 4x(6)'s are the key to start populating the grid - but haven't got enough of these yet.

Have about half solved, but could do with some hints on the following:
1. Natural system that's before food or late for starters
11. Supports second-rate prince
14. See some wicker, perhaps
17. Docked wild flower in disused estate
19. Ran from immobilised African flower
37. King ousting Queen in warship returning to Scottish reach
50. Star needs energy to play
52. Pollute lead-free contrivance for stirring molten metal
57. Conjunction seen when hospital is covered by dust
59. Manipulates seconds from pairs of punsters

1. Last two letters are the starting letters of "or late"
11. Starts with b. Underwear
14. Starts with c. Describes something made of wicker.
17. Starts with d. Common flower growing in lawns minus last letter
19. Starts with d. Def. is African flower (plant, not river)
37. Starts with m. 3-letter answer
50. Starts with p. Star as in things on a captain's epaulette for example
52. Starts with r. 6-letter answer. Def is contrivance for stirring...
57. Starts with t. Def is conjunction as in grammar/sentence
59. Starts with u. Def is manipulates. Remove letters from one of the words in the clue

A clever idea for the puzzle but some infuriating clues.

Definition is studies. Finally means use ends of words!
