I question 1ac in Cryptic Jumbo 1197:
"Confession of an old rocker after walk is justified" (11)
Answer: LEGITIMATED. Parsing: Leg it I'm a Ted.
Teds were not rockers; they pre-dated rock'n'roll. They jjived to the big bands until the management insisted that "For the safety and comfort of our patrons - Strictly no jiving!" And the Mecca/Palais bouncers would patrol the floor stopping the jivers.
Thus big bands such as Ted Heath played "The Creep" and, in their crepe soles, the Teds, and in flatties, their girls, crept: "Dancing is a thing that no-one does, Everybody does the Creep"
As for the first part: "Leg it" I have always used "leg it" to mean run, not walk.
