17a. 14 pin on scholar (4,6)
I know it's rabbit hole, but cannot parse the 14 bit, I get rabbi for scholar, & that's about all. Thanks in advance.

Thanks Mamya. I'm having a dim moment. I still can't see 14,& thole. This is the only clue I can't fully parse & it's driving me crazy

What is the answer to clue 14? Does it relate to rabbit hole?

14 is 'Nest' as is a Rabbit hole

Scholar is a Rabbi
A Thole is a pin

Thole

a pin, typically one of a pair, fitted to the gunwale of a rowing boat and on which an oar pivots.
