This puzzle has some very iffy defns!

Yes Gerry as you suggest.

E at end as otherwise the definition should be fatty. Though as you say some of them are dodgy.

23a grease or greasy

3d Winding lane poor horses go up (6) S???A?

8d What shopper does is steal (5) S?E??

12a Small box of rolled gold (4) ??R?

8 sneak ? what a shopper does - sneak on someone
