I've got lots of answers, and entered several around the top middle area, but I'm baffled by the spaces for 3-letter solutions, and other anomalies. Any tips?

Dylan, comparing the grid entries available against the answer lengths shows an additional 2 10-letter entries (fair to assume that these are the unclued entries), an additional 6 7-letter entries but 12 less 6-letter entires. So might the non-conventional entries be the extra 12 6-letter answers ? Look carefully at the 6-letter answers you have, and although this is a rectangular puzzle, it might help if you think in terms of radial puzzles for the non-conventional entries.

correction, I got into a right tangle there - for 10-letter entries read 11-letter entries...

Sorry, your hint isn't enough for this brain. Another issue I have is that the words I've entered, which generally seem to fit quite nicely, suggest a seven letter entry beginning SET, but this doesn't exist in the answers. More guidance, please!

Hi Dylan, I'm in the same boat as you. The only thing I can think of at the moment is that SET are the last three letters of one of the answers starting with a B, backwards and that the first three letters are one of the three-letter answers at right-angles to SET (which may be a clue to one of the 11-letter unclued answers) but it makes no sense of the rest of that line.

Actually, if you look at the answers that start with the same three letters, it does make sense.

Yes, it does work that way and led me to the remaining answers I was missing. Finished now.

For some bizarre reason I had "fish fingers" down the right hand side until I realised it should be "right angles"! A welcome break after last week - I still have recurring nightmares about Gilbert and Sullivan - a bit worrying really!

You were not alone in having nightmares about Pfennig- halbpfennig!! Grid now complete but some across entries (e.g. line 8) do not appear to be real words?

The method that has to be used to fit in all the 6-letter words produces 6 7-letter non-words. That's why I was hesitant about using it, but there seems to be no alternative.
