I've gone off Dean Mayer - this week's ST was especially taxing and I can't close it out with 15a - "Block, and flow perfectly". Two words and I have the letters ?A?N - ?E?L. I'm prepared for a "doh" moment.

Where does the N come from? There doesn't seem to be a homophone indicator.

I can only assume that the N is there in the same way as is the N in fish 'n' chips?
