Help please. I have the theme and perimeter but am stuck with several clues - 23d Group supported by Germany quickly failed. (6). I have ?A??ED. One letter in the definition becomes S so I presume sailed. Letter length is grid entry....

Hi Jogamel,

I think it might be 'ranged'

Range = group
D = Germany quickly

Ranged = sailed

Would that fit?

I'm only just getting started on this one....can you tell me two things?

Are there any clashes in the grid fill?

Do all clues have misprints?

The trouble is I have EEN for 33a, so RANGED wouldn't fit, unless I'm wrong. Jogamel, you're well ahead of me. I've solved various clues but many of them seem to need a gap leaving in the grid for now and it's not clear how that works to me. I thought it was ambiguous whether every one of the clues has a misprint in the definition but it seems so to me so far.

drvirgil. Not very far into this yet, but I don't think there are any clashes.
More a case of some entries having a blank cell. Filling this produces a new word. All the clues I've cracked up to now (about halfway) have misprints.

All of my blank cells so far are filled by crossing entries.

All clues have a misprint and in clue order provide 4 items. If you get 1a and 10a these two misprints alone led me to the theme, but I still have a good half dozen clues to solve that I have just come back home to. Ranged would fit if EEN was EEG which is not a word I can find. I still have not solved 22a which would help.

Sorry Nelson, I meant 9a - the first across on the list. If you need more help tell me. I am still struggling with 23d but also 32d. Still looking also for the eighth "item".

Jogamel. I got the misprints, I have a two word name for a flower.

Sorry but I don't have answers yet for the 2 clues you're stuck on.
