I don't understand how the solver is supposed to ignore the R of RNLI.

I've never heard of a Royal Marine being referred to as a Jolly nor have I heard of a Royal Marine being referred to as a Dive Bomber.

12ac just doesn't work for me either, I'm afraid. 'Where to find' is too misleading.

It isn't good and I doubt I've explained well either.

14. Quiet giant held by rare R in station (10) - presumably PROGRESSED - Quiet = P, giant = OGRE, don't see where 'rare R' and 'station' come into it.

A gas - (oxygen) raised - saga - old story?

29 Pale - Pasty, inside Des, French for 'the'/ Return = reverse, so Elap sed.

19 Embolden, make daring/ Embol(us) is Clot and Den is study.
