I usually complete the Genius each month in a couple of days but this one has completely flummoxed me. Can someone please point me in the right direction with the theme and possibly 17ac - I have ???K??? ????T. Thanks

The theme involves inserting the names of ??????? into some answers - if you have 10 A , 23 A or 18 D, look closely and see if you recognise anything inside.

I'm hopeless at extra clues - 17 A is definitely one of the thematic answers.

i found this pretty tortuous, particularly 27a which is knee deep in obscurities.

Thanks both for your help. I now have all the answers but cannot fine one theme answer - the only places I think it can be are in 12ac or 19ac (if I have them right!). Hate getting this far and failing at the last hurdle!

There's one, very obscure one, in 12 A.

I worked it out - had 12 ac wrong so now have the answer.
