Found the place : never 'eard of it. I never watch "Springwatch" or animal programmes of any kind so it rings no bells.

Crates doesn't say what he has for 1ac so it's difficult to help.
I see what I did wrong with the bold ; didn't include the forward slash in the second pair of square brackets.

Thanks Barretter. I had it finished (so I thought) plus the stop-over.
Had correct for 8D - worked out the shortened guinea pig but was taking the answer as 'asian tree' instead of just 'tree'. Had correct for 1A but was using 'tread' for business (synonym in my thesaurus). Now see the other synonym by migrating a letter. Incorrect for 31A - was thinking 'stroke' for caress which would fit but not parse. Now corrected and can go to bed content!

Enjoyed this one though my final blank at the unchecked letter in 22 (presumably U) does not give a crisp conclusion. Please confirm. Guess it is the opposite of boom.

Rickye
The final letter of booms has to migrate, giving a synonym of the answer.

Thanks Dorsetjan. Much crisper. That is a word I always pronounce with an extra O to spare my blushes.

Done except for 27a. Only one word fits but I can see how it parses - can anyone help please?
