6dn Smart man leaving here to see me...
8dn ...lumps a pretty girl and goddess together

8dn followed 6dn and their solutions were INTELLIGENT and DOLLOPS.
I can parse 8dn, but I’m not too sure about 6dn. Any thoughts?

8 Doll is a pretty girl and Ops is a goddess (given in Bradford's crossword dictionary).

Sorry, I've just realised I was working on the wrong one! I'll have a think about Intelligent now.

Thanks, Malone.

If 'Smart' is the definition, I wondered if 'man leaving here' could give (he)re and then RE = IN?

'to see me' could give TELL I (to see the difference = to tell the difference). I can't explain GENT though.

Could it be that "man leaving " is simply a reference to put "gent" at the end then "here" = "in" with the "tell I" as you have already parsed it?
If so, it's not a satisfying clue!

Thanks Paul, I think you've cracked it.

The Skeleton Crossword last century was much better fun - in my opinion.
I still enjoy doing some of the earliest puzzles from the 1930s onwards.
Some of the clues nowadays are definitely not "satisfying"!
