Please help me with the following non-cryptic clue:

Akin , can mean like,comparable , corresponding etc - not keen on it though.

But, the third letter I have now is T, formed from the clue
Thrust forward; push forward persistently (7) O???U?E which I took it as OBTRUDE. If Akin is right what will be the word O?I?U?E

The new pattern is A?TN. There is no word that fits in.

A is correct from Buenos Aires
N is correct for Conan (Arthur) (Conan) (Doyle).

So, All three letters A T N are correct. Now I feel there may be some thing wrong done by the setter in building the grid/

Can it be ALTN some short form for Alternate?
